SMART PROMPTS ACADEMY

Structure a prompt like a brief

A practical lesson with an example you can adapt.

Prompt structure does not require programming. Headings such as Goal, Input, Audience, Constraints and Output keep requirements readable. JSON can be useful for software integration, but plain language works for everyday tasks.

A vague request

Use secret prompt code to write my report.

A more useful brief

Goal: summarize the attached meeting notes. Audience: the project team. Constraints: do not add decisions absent from the notes. Output: decisions, owners, deadlines, and unresolved questions.

Try it yourself

Rewrite the example for your own project. Replace the audience, confirmed facts and requested output. Compare the answer against those requirements and improve one element at a time.
